your work inspires newbie StreetPhotographers like me.. thank you and Stay-A-Shooter.
Hi, Was really taken by your pictures-in each of your sets I found a photo or two I really loved-Nice moments in wonderful light captured with a sensitive eye- I have been doing some street photography in Dublin Ireland myself but work mostly in colour-Your choice to work with B&W film is totally vindicated -I am inspired- thanks.
Hi : Love the photos. Finally someone who shoots for his own pleasure and still can be interesting to other people. It's nice to see great images without heaps of technical detail(mostly probably obtained after using the automatic setting and then reading and publishing the EXIF info). The bullahoo accompanying such photographs is mostly just meant to cover up what are mediocre pictures at best (I'll mention no names but some of them are large blogs). Roger the sceptic
Hi Neil, greetings from Singapore. I love your work! I guess you zone focus to make it really street (candid)? any preferred settings? cheers
Hi Neil L.O.V.E.D your images!! Could not stop looking. I'm really getting into the urban/street photography scene and you have absolutely captured what I love about it!! Thanx for sharing your beautiful talent and may you be blessed!:)
Really nice
Love your work , do you intend to keep it up with this site ?
Hello Neil, What leica lenses are you using? 50 and 35? cheers Mark
Really enjoyed looking through your images! You've inspired me to get out there again with my camera. I will check back often to view your work.
Hi Neil. I see you've updated the site. Nice. Some fresh photos as well. Keep them coming!
Such a good moment visiting your site. Love the BW treatment, the composition... I am an fan of Frank and Winogrand, I have to admit you have learned from them... By the way, could you email me your standard chemical "soup" with Tri-X + dev times ? If it is not a secret, I love your B&W treatment.
Great images. I hope you will continue this nice series.
Excellent photography - a joy to see so many faces of London, all in wonderful monochrome. Are larger versions available? There's one I'd love to have on my desktop.
Neil just found your work thru Orville Robisons site.My passion is SP also.Your work is very strong indeed and I just spent a very enjoyable hour reviewing it.Now its time to get of my butt and go shoot street.Thanks.
brazilian photographer social street, I would like to show my street work. Thanks
Neil - I got the link to this site from the l-camera-forum and I am very impressed with your work. You have an excellent eye, a keen sense of composition, and knowledge of how to tease the most out of a lovely film, Tri-X. Keep up the good work; I'll check back often.
Still so good. Thanks. I live in London too and it's heartening to have another person's take on the city. Thanks.
Hi I love photography, particularly b&w film photography. I visit your website from time to time. I like your pictures. I think many of them are really good! I'm just an aficionado and I'd like to have your eye for good pictures. I love street photography but I get nervous thinking that others could see me and get annoyed so I am incapable of developing your skills. Congratulations for your excellent work! Guillermo
Hello, First got a link to your site from the Leica Forum and have been looking at your monthly roll of film for some time now and wanted to compliment you on the exceptionally high quality of your photographs. Have just managed to catch up on the October 08 post. Your work is an inspiration and since its only 3rd Jan not too late to break the habit of a lifetime and make a resolution to take more B+W this year
Really imaginative site and great presentation. It has been a lot of years since I took B&W, but your photos have re-ignited that interest for me, and to re-open my eyes to the details of life that are always all around us. Would love to know more about any techniques you use in developing and scanning, but better to just keep taking pics rather than talk about it. Thanks for the inspiration.
Just had a chance to review the October collection, and I must say that I'm once again in amazement as I have the opportunity to view your work... just astonishing images and storytelling. The personification of art...thanks very, very much for sharing.
Hi, I came across your post in the L Camera Forum and had to check out your sight. Damned good photography. An inspiration. Thanks for sharing it. It's one of the few member sites from LCF photographers worthy of bookmarking and coming back for more. Best wishes, Joe
Just an exceptional site, inspired notion, and quality of imagery and storytelling that has now convinced me to swallow hard and sell my DSLR and glass and acquire an M7 and a Summicron 50. Thanks for providing the inspiration through your work...
It was a good idea to follow my instinct and click over the link you have in your sign at LUG. I discover this world and I tell you, I like your vision man, congrats, very good B&W pictures, really. I'll be back soon. Good luck. Max (alias MSV @ LUG)
Neil, I'm back after a few months, and shocked to see my last feedback still near the top. I'm still really liking the tone and contrast of your b&w shots. I must confess I'm not that interested in the colour stuff, but you gotta go where your instincts tell you. Be well, buddy!
Great pictures (just enjoyed a few selections of 2008). What I like most is the way you capture the emotional expression in your compilations. I haven't seen your entire published portfolio here, but hopefully can do so very soon. Btw it is funny and refreshing to see the places I have been as well from your view :-)
nice site dude
Neil, Your subjects and compositions are consistently interesting and tasty. The icing on the cake is your infallible exposure, punchy contrast, and that exquisite TONE! I understand completely if you don't care to discuss the technical aspects of your artistry. But if you felt like letting your viewers in on the mechanics of your workflow, you'd have a lot of grateful B&W pilgrims beating a path to your site! Thanks for the visual and emotional treat. :^} Peter
March '08 possibly my favourite so far! Especially like the umbrella shop, and what looks like a hotel room, with blinds. Really inspiring material. Ben
What else can I say but- I love your work (or is it play). Thank you for reminding me of why I love photography. Your site will be used for inspiration from time to time when mine is lacking. Well done! -Paul Farand Coconut Creek, Florida
My favourites are 17, 20, 21 and of course 27!
jsut to than you for the many minutes i have spent studying your photos. Great work. From the "About" section I have also learned that most of your motivations are my own. Regards ! Ivan
Hi, I read about your site on photo.net and I have had a wonderful time visiting it. I loved the pictures, the concept and the design of the site. Keep with the good work!
Hey Neil - I've been meaning to send you some feedback since coming across your site via photo.net. What wonderful B&W work! You have a great eye for forms and light. The site is a great success and a great concept. Please keep up the great work . I'd like to send you email offline with some specific technical questions. til then, best wishes and good light! -Mark Brennan Brooklyn, NY
Thanks for this nice collection. Well done!
Neil, I was just having a look through PN stumbled on your site. Some very appealing images (grain, texture, contrast, subjects) as well as respect for keeping the film flag flying. Also a bit of nostalgia as I'm from London originally.
Neil, What a wonderful way to start my morning! A friend from India sent me a link to you website. I've been doing street photography with Leica film cameras since the mid-1960s. I've lived in small towns in Michigan all my life so am envious of your access to a big city.
Thank you for sharing such wonderful images. Honestly, I have not been a fan of street photography, but your choice of film, composition, lighting, originality and final presentation is something to be very proud of...keep up the good work.
I've come across your website quite by chance and I've throughly enjoyed your work. Steady, clear and concentrated work. Now, if you would be good enough to give me some direction re post processing work flow I would greatly appreciate you help. I love shooting tri-x also.
These are just wonderful photos. I'm a Leica shooter as well, Tri-X also, but I print in a wet darkroom. Also shoot with Rollei TLRs and Nikon F and Contax IIIa. Though the Leica has everything else gathering dust lately! Please keep up the beautiful work. I've bookmarked your site and will check back often. Vic in SF Bay Area
Really excellent, very nice lights and shadows.
Really outstanding pictures. Very interesting compositions that keep you looking. Thoroughly enjoyed my time on your website. Keep it up.
Whether you like it or not, the documenting of streetlife is slowly making you a documentary photographer. And not the worst one. A public image diary open to all, keep it going!
i really like the way you take the full atmosphere in each of your pic ! The grain and contrast are great too ! I wonder how you process your negative to digital ?? Olivier
Impressive. You've really assembled a great collection.
Just came across your site. Have to say you've got a great eye!
You did a really good job. I like your thinking. Where do you take street pictures?
Some very good prints and nice shots over there,,, Fred
Very nice website design, I like the spare, economical look. If you could make it so that we could jump from photo 1 to 6 that'd be great, but then, the concept is that of a roll of film, right? Quite original. Keep up the good work!
I like your street work. You've got a great feel for capturing the mood of the scene. I'll watch out for your updates.
